This is England’s fifth consecutive loss against Sri Lanka in the last five ICC ODI World Cups. They haven’t won a World Cup match against them since 1999. In the ongoing tournament, England is reeling at number nine with just two points from five matches. Their only loss came against Bangladesh earlier in the tournament. The fans are disappointed with England’s performance in the World Cup.

I didn’t think England could have a campaign that was as bad as 2015. This seems a *lot* worse. #ENGvSL #CWC2023

2015 or 2023 – Wonder which one hurts England more now… This campaign has been an absolute shocker! And it’s the famed batting that’s let them down .. #ENGvSL

England absolutely embarrassing. Just concede and get on the first flight home. The 50 over game in this country is dead

It’s incredibly tough: Jos Buttler opens up on England’s dismal performance
England skipper Jos Buttler is disappointed with the team’s performance so far in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He expressed that it’s tough for the team to have lost four out of their five matches. He added that they haven’t played at their best which is frustrating for the team. Speaking at the post-match presentation, following the loss against Sri Lanka, Jos Buttler said,
“It’s incredibly tough. As a captain, you feel that a lot – disappointed with myself and the boys that we’ve not shown our best. We’re playing a long way short of our best. There’s a lot of really experienced cricketers in the room. You don’t become a bad team overnight. That’s the frustration. We’ve been so far short of our best, and there’s no particular reason. Can’t put my finger on it.”
