Anushka Sharma comforted Virat Kohli following India’s disappointing loss in the World Cup 2023 final against Australia on Sunday. Similar to the entire Indian team and countless fans worldwide, Virat Kohli was devastated when Australia won the Cricket World Cup 2023 final.
Despite being named the player of the tournament for his remarkable batting performance, Kohli, the top-scoring batter of the tournament, couldn’t secure the trophy. Following Travis Head’s pivotal role in Australia’s victory, Kohli met his wife, Anushka Sharma, who was in the stands.

Kohli made 54 runs in 63 balls but got out to Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins. His dismissal surprised everyone at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, including Anushka.
Australia won their 6th ODI World Cup by chasing a target of 241 runs, thanks to Travis Head’s great innings of 137 off 120 balls. Pat Cummins praised his team for having a perfect plan that worked against India in the important match.
“I think we saved our best for last. Couple of big match players stood up, and we’re pretty stuffed. We’ve been batting first pretty much for the whole tournament, today we thought, it’s a good night to chase down, we thought it might actually get a little bit easier.”
”Everyone was pretty keen to get out there. It was a bit slower than I thought, didn’t particularly spin probably as much as we thought either. Everyone adjusted pretty well and bowled some tight lines,” Cummins shared this after the match.
The loss marks the end of Kohli’s hope to win the World Cup for the second time. It’s uncertain whether he will participate in another ODI World Cup.
