ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Anushka Sharma Writes A Heartfelt Message To Virat Kohli Following His Match-winning Knock Against New Zealand

India extended their impressive winning streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 by defeating New Zealand with a four-wicket victory on Sunday, October 22 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

New Zealand, batting first, reached a total of 273 for the loss of all their wickets in 50 overs, thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s innings of 130 runs from 127 balls. In response, India successfully pursued the target within 48 overs, largely thanks to another splendid performance by Virat Kohli, who scored 95 runs from 104 balls.

This win marked India’s fifth consecutive victory in the ongoing World Cup. While Kohli’s exceptional performance received accolades from cricket experts worldwide, his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma also expressed her admiration for his achievements.

Anushka Sharma posted video clips of Virat Kohli’s batting performance on her Instagram story, along with messages like “Always Proud of You” and “Storm Chaser.”

Unfortunately, Kohli didn’t score a second century in a row in the tournament. He got out while trying to hit a big shot over deep mid-wicket. He was caught by Glenn Phillips in the outfield when India needed just five more runs to win the game.

The Delhi-born cricketer was just five runs away from matching the record of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 ODI centuries.

Kohli recently scored his 48th century against Bangladesh during the World Cup. With more matches left to be played in the tournament, he has a good chance to surpass Tendulkar’s record.

The 34-year-old cricketer also secured the position of the top run-scorer in the tournament with his innings, amassing 354 runs from five matches. He maintains an average of 118 and a strike rate of 90.53, including one century and three half-centuries.

After winning, India is now at the top of the points table with ten points from five matches. Their next game is against England on Sunday, October 29, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
