Australia

The Australian Cricket Board announced a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 to be played in India starting from 5th October. Pat Cummins will lead the team and look to help their country gain glory winning the 50-over title again that they did in 2015.

Before this, they announced an 18-member squad for the mega event. Nathan Ellis, Tanveer Sangha, and Aaron Hardie have not been included in this squad. It looks like a strong squad that comprises top-quality batters, bowlers, and all-rounders that can change the course of the game.

David Warner and Travis Head might open the innings for Australia in this World Cup. Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis comprise middle-order batters and are genuine all-rounders who can bowl a bit. Josh Inglis and Alex Carey are the two wicketkeepers in the squad.

The pace bowling department looks potent with the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Sean Abbott, and Josh Hazlewood. Ashton Agar, Adam Zampa, and Glenn Maxwell are the spin bowling options in the squad.

Before the 2023 World Cup, they will face South Africa in 5 5-match ODI series in South Africa from 7th October and then a 3-match ODI series against India in India.

However, the Australian Cricket Team will start the Cricket World Cup journey with a mouthwatering match against India at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 8th October. The last time Australia played at this venue this year, the Aussies outplayed India with a comprehensive win. They will then face South Africa at Lucknow on 12th October, followed by their next fixture against Sri Lanka on 16th October. Australia would face Pakistan in a blockbuster encounter at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on the 20th.

The 5-time World Champions Australia will face the Netherlands in their 5th match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 25th October. They would travel to Dharamshala for their next encounter against New Zealand three days later. Their next blockbuster match would be against arch-rivals England on 4th November at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. After this match, they would face Afghanistan in match number 8 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 7th November.

They will end the league stage against Bangladesh at MCA Stadium, Pune on 11th November. It promises to be an exciting tournament as the top 10 teams in the world will take part in this prestigious event.
