ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Kuldeep Yadav Changed The Game By Dismissing Saud Shakeel And Iftikhar Ahmed In The Same Over

Kuldeep Yadav made a significant impact for India in the 33rd over at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during Pakistan’s innings. Pakistan was holding a decent position at 162/3 when Captain Rohit Sharma decided to bring Kuldeep into the game for a crucial wicket.

By making his deliveries more cunning and faster, the spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, got right to work. He managed to get Pakistani batter Saud Shakeel out by hitting the stumps in front of him.

Although the umpire didn’t agree at first, India’s successful challenge made sure Shakeel had to leave the field after scoring only six runs from 10 balls. Afterwards, the team decided to send Iftikhar Ahmed to the pitch.

As Ahmed got used to the deliveries from Kuldeep, the spinner bowled one that started outside the leg and then spun in, hitting the batter’s leg and knocking the stumps over. This unexpected dismissal surprised the aggressive batter, and Pakistan’s score was reduced to 166/5 after 33 overs.

“Everyone told me my deliveries required pace but no one told me how to do it. Important aspect on a turner is the speed at which the ball turns.”

”At times there are slow turners, important is to vary pace,”  Kuldeep Yadav has recently discussed the technical adjustments he has made in his bowling to enhance his effectiveness in various formats of the game.

He added, “Once I was coming back from injury, it was physio Ashish Kaushik who advised that the load on my right leg should be less.”

”Post rehab, I implemented that in my training and then in match situations and I felt the difference. It didn’t happen overnight though. It took around six months to get the rhythm back.”
