During the 2023 World Cup match between India and Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8th, an England-based Indian cricket enthusiast and prankster named Daniel Jarvo once again made headlines by running onto the pitch.
In a widely circulated image on social media, Jarvo was seen donning a Team India jersey with the number 69 on it. He was escorted off the field by Virat Kohli and the on-field umpires before security personnel returned him to the stands.
This wasn’t the first time Jarvo had pulled such stunts. Previously, during the India vs. England Tests, he had appeared on the field wearing an Indian jersey. He gained notoriety for pretending to be part of the Indian team during the 2021 Lord’s Test, which had led to his arrest by local authorities. Jarvo is known for sharing comedic content on social media and frequently intrudes onto the field during various sports events, including cricket, football, and NFL games, among others.

In the 2023 World Cup match, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first against India. The Australian team was missing the injured all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who was replaced by Cameron Green.
During the toss, Pat Cummins mentioned that Rohit Sharma and his team had to make a necessary alteration to their lineup because Shubman Gill couldn’t play due to illness. As a result, Ishan Kishan has taken his place as an opening batsman in the playing XI.
“We’ll bat first, looks like a good wicket. Sun is out and a good opportunity to bat. We are in a good spot, we’ve played a lot over the last month. Travis Head isn’t here, Abbott and Josh Inglis miss out.”
To which Rohit Added:
“He (Shubman Gill) hasn’t recovered in time. Ishan comes in to replace him, he will open the batting.”
As of the current moment, the Australian cricket team got wiped out for 199 runs all out in 50overs. Steve Smith and David Warner played a significant role for the side.
