Jasprit Bumrah once again took the initial wicket for India in the 2023 World Cup match against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After Afghanistan made a promising start, Bumrah bowled a superb delivery that forced Ibrahim Zadran to play at it.
The ball straightened off the surface, catching the outside edge, and wicketkeeper KL Rahul made a diving catch to dismiss Zadran. Bumrah celebrated the wicket in an interesting manner, seemingly imitating Marcus Rashford of Manchester United by placing a finger to the side of his head.

Afghanistan’s captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi, chose to bat first after winning the toss on what appeared to be a good batting pitch in Delhi. While Bumrah created movement with the ball, Mohammed Siraj struggled with his line and length, allowing the batsmen to find the boundary.
Zadran seemed to be in good form, while his opening partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz took some time to settle in before hitting a couple of boundaries. Just when it looked like Afghanistan was building a substantial opening partnership, Zadran was dismissed for 22 runs off 28 balls in the seventh over, reducing them to 32/1.
As of now, Afghanistan scored 272 runs after 50 overs, with the heroics of Hashmatullah Shahidi, and Azmatullah OmarzaiAfghanistan is seeking their first win in the 2023 World Cup, while India is aiming for their second consecutive victory after defeating Australia in Chennai. India made one change for this match, replacing off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin with seamer Shardul Thakur.
