ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Shardul Thakur’s Excellent Catch At Boundary Dismisses Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Team India all-rounder Shardul Thakur pulled off a stunning catch during their ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan on Wednesday, October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. His outstanding effort near the boundary ropes helped to get rid of opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who looked in good touch.

The incident took place during the thirteenth over of the Afghanistan innings. Hardik Pandya bowled a short delivery to Rahmanullah Gurbaz who went for the pull shot. However, he managed just a top edge and the ball flew to Shardul Thakur who was at the backward square leg boundary. The all-rounder caught the ball on the first attempt. However, as he was going over the fence, he flicked it inside and then caught it again on the second attempt. Gurbaz was dismissed for 21 runs off 28 deliveries with three boundaries and a six.

India excludes Ravichandran Ashwin, bring in Shardul Thakur

All-rounder Shardul Thakur replaced Ravichandran Ashwin in the Indian playing XI for their second match of the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup on Wednesday, October 11 against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Ashwin bowled well in their opening match of the World Cup against Australia. He dismissed Cameron Green in the match and finished with bowling figures of 1/34.

However, for the Afghanistan game, Indian management has gone ahead with a fast-bowling all-rounder in Shardul Thakur. This is the Mumbai cricketer’s debut ICC ODI Cricket World Cup match. Apart from his terrific fielding effort, Shardul Thakur also took a wicket against Afghanistan in the match. He dismissed Rahmat Shah for 16 runs off 22 deliveries, including three boundaries. The all-rounder conceded 31 runs in six overs at an economy rate of 5.2 for India in the match.
