Indian cricketer Kuldeep Yadav made a spectacular diving catch to send Rashid Khan back in the 2023 World Cup game against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Riding on the momentum, Rashid Khan displayed his strength, hitting a boundary and a six before getting caught by Kuldeep at the deep point region.
Jasprit Bumrah delivered a slower ball outside the off-stump, and Rashid swung aggressively at it. The ball was sent skyward, and even though Kuldeep initially missed the catch as it slipped from his hand, he remained composed and managed to secure it on his second try as he ran in from the sweeper cover region.
Ravindra Jadeja, positioned at the backward point, rushed backwards, but Kuldeep Yadav shouted loudly to assert the catch. In the jubilation of the catch, Jadeja leapt over Kuldeep Yadav as Team India surged back into the match.
In the 49th over, with Afghanistan at a score of 261 and having lost seven wickets, Yadav made an impressive catch on his second try to remove Rashid Khan, who was batting against a delivery by Jasprit Bumrah.

“We have good spinners in our team, so will try to defend this total” – Azmatullah Omarzai
With Azmatullah Omarzai and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi both scoring half-centuries, Afghanistan managed to set a formidable total of 272/8 when they batted first. Azmatullah, who achieved his first World Cup fifty, mentioned that they aimed for a score exceeding 300 but expressed contentment with their current total.
During the mid-inning break, Azmatullah stated: “We lost early wickets, so we were trying to build a partnership. We were rotating the strike and tried to put the loose balls away. We tried to score around 300, but we lost wickets in the middle overs. We have good spinners in our team, so will try to defend this total.”
