Regarding the match, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner took on the opening roles for the Australian team in the first innings. Unfortunately, Marsh was out for a zero score, but Warner, with 41 runs from 52 balls, and Steven Smith, contributing 46 runs from 71 balls, combined to establish a crucial second-wicket partnership of 69 runs. However, once Smith was dismissed, the Australian team struggled to maintain control of the game as the Indian bowling attack showcased an outstanding performance.
India’s formidable spin bowling trio, consisting of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravichandran Ashwin, delivered an exceptional inning, dismissing the Australian team for a total of 199 runs. Jadeja took three wickets, while Kuldeep and Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets each. Additionally, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, and Ashwin secured one wicket each during the fifth ODI World Cup match.
In the second innings, Australia got off to a promising start, initially dismissing Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer for zero runs, leaving India at a challenging score of 2/3. However, Virat Kohli, with 85 runs from 116 balls, and KL Rahul, remaining unbeaten with 97 runs from 115 balls, formed a solid partnership of 165 runs, ultimately securing a six-wicket victory against Australia.
India’s next fixture will see them face Afghanistan on October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
