ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Virat Kohli Bowls In A Practice Session; With Jasprit Bumrah Acting As The Umpire

Virat Kohli practised his bowling before India’s 2023 World Cup match against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. Jasprit Bumrah acted as the umpire while Kohli bowled on the practice wicket.

Bumrah and Kohli were spotted bowling together just before the toss in the India vs. Sri Lanka match. Bumrah successfully delivered yorkers, and Kohli attempted to do the same.

A practice session video went viral on social media where Kohli bowled, and umpire Bumrah signaled a wide. A popular user on X platform shared the video with a comment:

“Bumrah gave it a wide.”

Bumrah and Kohli have been teammates for a while. Kohli once mimicked Bumrah’s bowling style and celebration during a warm-up session in the 2019 World Cup. On Thursday, November 2, Virat Kohli achieved the milestone of becoming the third Indian batsman, following Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, to score 1000 runs in ODIs in 2023. Additionally, he is now the fourth batsman to reach the 1000-run mark in the 50-over format this year, joining the likes of Rohit, Gill, and Pathum Nissanka.

Could Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah be key to India reaching the 2023 World Cup semifinals?

In the ongoing 2023 World Cup, India is currently playing their seventh league-stage match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. India has won all six of their previous matches in the tournament. A victory in today’s match against Sri Lanka would secure their spot in the semifinals. Sri Lanka’s captain, Kusal Mendis, won the toss and chose to field first at the Wankhede Stadium.

The Sri Lankan team has made one change in their lineup, with Dushan Hemantha coming in for Dhananjaya de Silva. On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that if he had won the toss, he would have chosen to bat first.

The home team has opted to stick with the same playing lineup and has not made any changes. The performances of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will be crucial for India’s chances of success.
