Virat Kohli achieves his 50th ODI century, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record

Virat Kohli makes history as the world’s first batsman to achieve 50 ODI centuries, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s legendary record of 49 centuries.

In today’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup match, Kohli secured his 50th ODI century, establishing himself as the all-time leader in ODI centuries, breaking his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar’s longstanding record.

Virat Kohli surpasses Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the highest run tally in a single World Cup, exceeding Tendulkar’s 673 runs from the 2003 tournament.

Kohli, aged 35, achieved his century by taking a two off fast bowler Lockie Ferguson after facing 106 balls. His innings, featuring eight fours and a six, not only secured his 50th ODI century but also broke the record he shared with Sachin Tendulkar, who had 49 ODI hundreds.

After achieving a century in the semi-final against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli lifted his arms in celebration, then knelt and acknowledged the fans with his helmet off. He reached a score of 100, having faced 106 balls in an almost flawless innings with minimal chances.

Kohli got a lot of help from Shreyas Iyer (77) during the middle part of the game. Kohli stayed in control, and India won again, making sure they finished at the top of the group stage.
