Like other T20 leagues like BBL, CPL, IPL and other domestic tournaments around the world, the International Cricket Council has decided to give approval to Afghanistan Premier League.
Afghanistan Premier League
This is a major boost for Afghanistan Cricket as five teams will take part in this tournament. It will have 5 teams including Kabul, Nangarhar, Kandhar, Balkh and Paktia. The tournament begins on 5th October and finishes on 21st October 2018. All the matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Ground. The teams have been named according to the cities of Afghanistan.
In this tournament, a total of 23 matches will be played. This type of tournament will be able to give a chance for young Afghanistan players to showcase their talent to the world.
ICC’s approval enabled “member boards to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to players associated with the respective boards” as per release on the ACB website.
In other major leagues like BBL, many top T20 players like Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum take part to earn money. The bidding process of the players will commence shortly and teams are expected to be finished by the middle of August.
Many top Afghanistan players who have played for the country to impress with their skills in the limited overs version to play with top international players from different countries.
35 top cricketers have shown interest to play in the first edition of Afghanistan Premier League tournament. Apart from Afghanistan Cricket League, top leagues like Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League, have been taken place in the United Arab Emirates.
Caribbean Premier League is currently going with top T20 players like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and other top international players are taking part in it. Indian Premier League is the most popular leagues in the world that began in 2008.
