Faheem Ashraf’s explosive late innings rescued Pakistan from a precarious position, which resulted in a three-wicket victory against the Netherlands during their first match of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan’s victory remained uncertain when they lost five players after reaching 98 runs with two players out, but Ashraf saved the match when he scored 29 runs off 11 balls and hit three sixes and one four.
The victory holds vital importance for Pakistan since they chose to withdraw from their February 15 match against co-host India, which has created major disruptions throughout the cricketing community. The boycott puts added pressure on Pakistan to perform well in their remaining Group A matches, as they cannot afford to drop points. The situation remains tense because India plans to travel to Colombo while Pakistan maintains its boycott.
Pakistan escapes with a 3-wicket win against the Netherlands:Â

The Pakistan cricket team achieved victory against the Netherlands through Faheem Ashraf’s last-minute performance, which brought them three-wicket success with three balls remaining in their first T20 World Cup match on Saturday. Pakistan needs to win all Group A matches because it has decided to boycott its February 15 match against India, which will take place in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan appeared to suffer from the boycott controversy, which led to their downfall at Colombo when they lost their seventh wicket with the score at 114 runs. Ashraf scored 29 runs from 11 balls while he remained not out which enabled the former champions to reach 148-7 after 19.3 overs.
The Netherlands lost all their wickets for 147 runs within 19.5 overs because they failed to score more than 20 runs after losing their first four batsmen. The Netherlands team almost achieved an unexpected triumph because they restricted Pakistan’s scoring until Ashraf hit fast bowler Logan van Beek for 24 runs during the second-to-last over which changed the entire match. The match turned in Pakistan’s favor because Ashraf achieved three sixes and one four. Ashraf’s performance brought Pakistan victory after their batters encountered difficulties during middle overs.
