ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Australian Cricketers Reach India Ahead Of ODI Series And The Mega Event

The Australian cricket team has arrived in India for their final preparation ahead of the 2023 World Cup. They will face the host team, India, in a three-match ODI series, commencing on September 22 in Mohali.

David Warner shared his appreciation for being back in India on his Instagram handle, saying:

“Always great to be welcomed back to india. We are always well looked after and well protected. Thanks so much. @gmraerocity always makes our transits so easy.”

Warner had a mixed performance in the recent five-game ODI series against South Africa. The 36-year-old scored well with notable innings of 106 and 78 against the Proteas but struggled in the other three innings, failing to cross 20 runs.

As he is likely to open alongside Mitchell Marsh, Warner is eager to find his form before the World Cup. Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey shared a picture of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Mitchell Marsh hanging out together in their hotel room.

Australia’s middle-order, especially Marcus Stoinis and Carey, will be closely watched after their struggles in South Africa. However, the return of players like Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins should boost the team’s confidence.

The first ODI will be held in Mohali on September 22, followed by matches in Indore and Rajkot on the 24th and 27th, respectively.

Australia’s squad for three ODIs against India

Pat Cummins is the captain of the Australian cricket team for the three ODIs against India.

Other players in the squad include Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, and Adam Zampa.

Australia will kick off their World Cup journey on October 8 in Chennai against India.
