The explosive left-handed batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Axar Patel rose in the latest ICC T20I rankings announced today. Jaiswal did not feature in the first T20I against Afghanistan at Mohali due to health issues before he came back strongly with a superb attacking knock of 68 during the 2^nd T20I match at Holkar Stadium, Indore on 14^th January 2024.

Chasing 173 runs, he was lethal with his explosive batting taking on the bowlers right from the word go and keeping pressure on Afghanistan bowlers, especially Nabi, Noor, and Mujeeb. Despite losing wickets of Rohit and Kohli early, Jaiswal showed his power along with Shivam Dube keeping the momentum going for India. He was at number 15^th in the rankings before the 2^nd match.

With his attacking knock of 68, Jaiswal has climbed up in the rankings while Axar Patel climbed 12 places up to number 5^th in the bowling rankings.

India eventually won the match by 6 wickets with 26 balls to spare. Jaiswal would look to continue his momentum with another superb performance in the 3^rd and final T20I match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 17^th January 2024.

The bowling department has seen Axar Patel rise in the top 10 rankings after an impressive performance in the 2^nd T20I match at Holkar Stadium, Indore. He gave away just 17 runs in his 4 overs and grabbed 2 wickets that put Afghanistan batters under pressure. Patel would look to impress again with another brilliant performance in the 3^rd match of the series to be played at Bengaluru on 17^th January 2024.

Axar Patel showed his prowess with a superb spell in the first T20I match at Mohali. He took 2 for 23 in 4 overs and would look to keep momentum ahead of the Test series against England starting from 25th January onwards.
