India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs to stay alive in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. They now have matches against Scotland and Namibia to follow. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra in his analysis of the Indian bowling attack has lauded the pacers and the spinners alike. The Indian bowlers who struggled to pick wickets in the first two games picked as many as seven wickets against Afghanistan.

Hailing the Indian bowling attack, Aakash Chopra pinpointed to Ravichandran Ashwin’s spell on his return. Back in the T20I team after 2017, Ashwin bowled a spell of 2/14 without conceding any boundary.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s Spell Was Sensational: Aakash Chopra

“We saw Jaddu and Ashwin playing together in blue clothing after a long time. Both bowled very well. Ashwin’s spell was sensational. The numbers are worth talking about. Ashwin gave just 14 runs in four overs and took two wickets” said Chopra.

Chopra lauded Jadeja for being a good backup to Ashwin’s spell. The left-arm spinner took 1/19 off three overs. Mohammad Shami up top picked three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah one. Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur went wicketless.

“And those wickets were top-order wickets – Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran. Both are dangerous players and you got both of them out. Jaddu also gave 19 runs in three overs and took a wicket. So, seven overs between the two of them – 33 runs and three wickets. Well done, spin twin.”

“Shami had three wickets in his kitty. He got hit a little but Shardul Thakur actually got hit a lot. That’s a question now you will have to start answering, whether you should play a third spinner instead of Shardul.”

India play Scotland and Namibia next in Dubai on November 5 and 7 respectively.
