Delhi Commission for Women has asked Delhi police to start their investigation and arrest the people who have given rape threats to Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s daughter Vamika. The DCW has sought immediate arrest of the accused over the same. In a shocking development, Kohli’s daughter started getting rape threats after the Indian skipper stood by Mohammad Shami who was being trolled on his religion.

Shami was targeted after India lost to Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup last Sunday. Things turned uglier when India lost their second too against New Zealand with the entire team being trolled and targeted badly on social media. The Indian cricket fans are also asking BCCI to ban the IPL which was thought to be the perfect platform to prepare the players for the mega event.

Speaking on the issue, DCW Chief Swati Maliwal described the matter as extremely shameful. She further said that the superior body has asked Delhi Police to arrest the accused asap and present a detailed report on the matter.

“I have heard that some people are giving rape threats to Virat Kohli’s nine-month old daughter because he supported Mohammed Shami after the latter was trolled over his religion following India’s loss to Pakistan in the World Cup. This is extremely shameful.”

Indian skipper Virat Kohli came to Mohammad Shami’s rescue who was targeted by a section of Indian fans over his religion after India’s defeat to Pakistan. Kohli lashed out at trolls who abused Indian pacer Shami over his religion following India’s loss to Pakistan.

“This is literally the lowest level of human potential that one can operate at and that’s how I look at these people. To me, attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing that a human being can do. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion over what they feel about a certain situation, but I personally have never ever even thought of discriminating (against) anyone over their religion. That’s a very sacred and personal thing to every human being” said Kohli at a press conference.
