Like Pietersen, former England skipper Michael Vaughan has also backed England to make the final. “We had a biggish game last weekend … Now time for the biggest game in World cricket … Can’t wait … #ENG #Aus Whoever wins avoids #Pakistan in the semis … #T20WorldCup” Vaughan said in his tweet.

Eleven years later, both sides will step into the Dubai International Stadium to make it three in a row in the marquee event.

Players from both teams previewed the preparations ahead of the big game. Pat Cummins spoke about the impact of Glenn Maxwell as a sixth bowling option in the side.

“We’re covering a lot of areas with that fifth bowler. We’ve got Maxwell, Stoinis, Marsh, all who can contribute those four overs. It might change, but at the moment I feel like whichever way we go, we’ve got plenty of options” said Cummins.

Eoin Morgan spoke about the team being clinical in their win against Bangladesh and sticking to the process against Australia.

“I thought we played really, really well. I thought we were disciplined with the ball. We hit really good lengths. We created opportunity when — not when it came about, but when it wasn’t necessarily there. I think we forced them to make mistakes by playing really well”
