Sri Lanka and South Africa face off in Dubai in the first of the two games on Saturday. This is the third game for both the teams with them having won and lost one each in the first two. While South Africa lost to Australia, the Aussies also defeated the Lankans in their second game as well.

A certain David Warner came back into form as he took the Lankans out of the equation. Sri Lanka’s total of 153 was not enough as Australia romped to victory by seven wickets and finished the game with three overs to spare. 

For South Africa, though they won the game against West Indies. However, the focus was more on the absence of Quinton De Kock and his unwillingness to take the knee to support the BLM movement. He has also given his statement and his return is sure to bolster the Protean XI. 

With the group being called the group of death, every match has its unique importance in figuring out the top two teams making it to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Pitch Report:

Sharjah has been the most difficult ground for batting either batting first or chasing. A couple of games saw the ball keeping way low making it difficult for the batsmen to hit big shots. Chasing will still be way the way to go, given the dew factor steps in. However, this game is a day game and it will be interesting to see how the captains think at the toss. The Proteas enjoy a better head to head record against the Lankans (11-5).
