Team India made their first group stage exit from the T20 World Cup since 2012. Baack to back losses against Pakistan and New Zealand meant that India had too much to do in the final three games. New Zealand eventually eliminated India from the group advancing to the semis along with Pakistan. Virender Sehwag has pointed out the lessons learnt by the team on his official Facebook page.

India crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the Super 12 round only. Answering a fan’s query on his Facebook Watch show Virugiri Dot Com, Virender Sehwag said:

“India doesn’t need to learn anything from them. India are a good team and can beat both England and New Zealand on any day, but one thing they can definitely learn is to be positive and play positively because T20 format or white ball cricket, it’s format of brave players and you have to take risks, you need to express yourself.”

Play Brave & Expressive Brand Of Cricket: Virender Sehwag

Meanwhile, the former Indian batsman said that India need to play brave cricket and not worry about the results. After their loss against Pakistan, they went into an ultra-defensive mode and the intent was missing against the Kiwis. For a period of more than 10 overs, India failed to hit a single boundary in the game. India now play a three-match T20I series against the Kiwis with a chance to avenge their World Cup defeat.

“India have managed to do that well in the past. Now again the time has come to repeat it. I would like to say that when New Zealand comes to India, play a brave and expressive brand of cricket and don’t worry about the result because if you play bravely then result will be in your favor” Sehwag said.

India play a three-match T20I series followed by a two-Test match series against the Kiwis starting November 17.
