Kumar Dharmasena is one of the two on-field umpires for the first semi-final between England and New Zealand to be played in Abu Dhabi later tonight. Ahead of the massive game, former Indian batsman, Wasim Jaffer has trolled the former Sri Lankan cricketer. Meanwhile, Marais Erasmus will be the other on-field umpire in the game with Nitin Menon As the third umpire, Paul Reiffel as fourth and David Boon as match referee.

Kumar Dharmasena officiated the final of the ICC 2019 World Cup final and was involved in the controversial decision when he gave six runs for the overthrow deflected off Ben Stokes’ bat in the game.

Taking a queue out of the same Wasim Jaffer trolled Kumar Dharmasena. “Hey Kumar, what time does the match start tonight?” Jaffer tweeted, along with a picture of Dharmasena holding up six fingers.

The decision became one of the talking points in the tournament. It is still talked about in various events as it played a huge role in England becoming world champions.

England were one of the unbeaten teams in the tournament until they were beaten by South Africa in their last league game. They are missing key players in Jason Roy and Tymal Mills in the final, both of who are ruled out due to injuries.

New Zealand, started their campaign with a loss to Pakistan. However, ever since that defeat, they have been at the top of their game against every other opponent in group 2. They beat Afghanistan in their last league game to knock India out of the tournament. They are looking to win two ICC titles in 2021 having won the ICC World Test Championship earlier this year.

“It’s been a long time coming, this T20 World Cup. It’s been exciting to be involved in it. And obviously it’s all coming to a quick end and we’ve got the semi-final. All going well, hopefully another game after that” said Kane Williamson ahead of the game.
