Rohit Sharma made his mark in international cricket in the 2007 World Cup. 14 years down the line, he will be one of India’s biggest hopes of winning the T20 World Cup title for the second time. In between, India reach the final once in 2014 and the semifinal in 2016. However, despite having the team every time, they could not quite win the tournament.

This time, Rohit Sharma goes into the tournament as Virat Kohli’s deputy. MS Dhoni will be mentoring the team. Thus the trio will be working together behind making sure that India wins the T20 World Cup title for the second time.

With just less than a month left for the mega event, Rohit Sharma shared a post of India’s maiden T20 World Cup triumph and said that the team is ready to win it for the second time.

‘’’Sep 24th, 2007, Johannesburg. The day when a billion dreams came true. Who would have thought back then that a relatively inexperienced, young team like ours would end up creating history!! It’s been 14 years since, we’ve come a long way, we’ve created many more histories, we’ve had our setbacks, we struggled, but it didn’t break our spirits. Because we never give up. We give it all!!!,’’

This @icc #T20WorldCup each one of us is going to give everything to repeat history. We’re coming for it, the trophy is ours. India, let’s make it happen. I am #InItToWinIt.’” wrote Rohit on his Instagram handle.

Meanwhile, this will be Virat Kohli’s last assignment as India’s T20I skipper. In all likeliness, Rohit will succeed him as the skipper of this format. Cricket experts around the world have backed him to the post and said that his IPL success will be a big motivating factor behind him leading the team in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

India begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
