Fans of the Indian cricket squad are especially excited as the cricketing world prepares for the spectacle that will be the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. With each successive campaign becoming more urgent in its absence, Team India has been chasing the elusive trophy since winning the first title in 2007.

Anticipating the 2024 edition, optimism is high once more, particularly considering the stellar group of players that make up the Indian team, which was revealed by the BCCI on April 30.

Here, we’ve put up a list of five Indian players to keep an eye on as they embark on their exciting quest to T20 glory.

Yashasvi Jaiswal:

1. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal of India, who dominated England in the Test series, would be eager to make an impression in the T20I format of the game. Even with his striking rate of 161.93 in international T20s and nearly 150 in all 20-over matches, the 22-year-old remains a staunch traditionalist and purist when it comes to Test cricket.

Recently, Jaiswal orchestrated an incredible Rajasthan Royals triumph over the Mumbai Indians at Jaipur by smashing a 60-ball 104* against Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Gerald Coetzee.

Rishabh Pant:

In December 2022, about 17 months after the vehicle tragedy, Indian batsman Rishabh Pant will return to the international cricket scene for India. Despite needing three surgeries for his right knee following the accident, Pant’s rehabilitation was amazing. It took him a long time to recover before he could play again in the 2024 Indian Premier League.

Still, in the second innings of his cricket career, Pant went against all the odds and returned with a bang for DC. Having scored 446 runs in 13 matches with a strike rate of 155.40 and three fifties, the DC skipper concluded the tournament as the team’s best run scorer.

Sanju Samson:

Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, may not have performed well in his few T20 international experiences for India, but with his present form, he cannot be disregarded. He has been outstanding for RR in the IPL 2024, taking the lead both at bat and as captain. Samson has amassed 531 runs in 15 games at a strike average exceeding 153.

But, given the presence of the reliable Rishabh Pant, I don’t think he will be the starting wicketkeeper. Watch to see how many T20 World Cup games he participates in.

Kuldeep Yadav:

Kuldeep Yadav has taken an eye-catching 59 wickets at an economy rate of 6.75 in 35 T20 international matches across 34 innings. Because of his skill in spin bowling, he’s a dangerous opponent, particularly given the peculiarities of American conditions.

With his ability to manipulate the game’s speed and deceive batsmen, Yadav’s subtle spin approach is expected to flourish on pitches made in the United States, giving his team a tactical edge that might win them T20 World Cup games.

Jasprit Bumrah:

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah appears to be easily dismissing his opponents. Following his 2023 ODI World Cup wicket-taking rampage for Team India, the cricketer in the 2024 Indian Premier League destroys the opposing team’s batting lineups with his unmatched pace and precision.

Even though Bumrah has only participated in a small number of international matches in the USA and the West Indies, Team India will surely benefit from his bowling prowess during the competition, particularly when using the new ball.
