Netherlands made two changes for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in USA and West Indies starting from 2nd June onwards. Fred Klassen and Daniel Doram who were included in the 15-member squad have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries. It is a massive blow for the Netherlands side as they will miss the services of Klassen and Doram for the mega event.
Saqib Zulfiqar and Kyle Klein are being added to the reserves and will be added to the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Kyle Klein has played just 3 matches in international cricket for the Netherlands who made his debut in February this year. On the other hand, Saqib will be returning to the T20I setup for the Netherlands after a gap of five years.
He played his last T20I match in August 2019. He was a part of the team that featured in the 2023 World Cup played in India. The Netherlands is currently taking part in the tri-series with Scotland and Ireland at home. They qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 by finishing in the top 8 of the 2022 edition played in Australia.
Netherlands Schedule For The T20 World Cup 2024
The Netherlands has been clubbed with Nepal, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh. They will play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka on 28th May before playing Canada on 30th May.
They would open their World Cup journey on the 4th of June against Nepal at Dallas. Netherlands will face South Africa in their 2nd group match in New York on 8th June 2024. It promises to be another closely fought match as the Netherlands stunned South Africa in the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup.
Netherlands will take on Bangladesh at Arnos Vale Stadium, Kingstown, St Vincent on 13th June. Their final Group stage match will be against Sri Lanka on 16th June at Darren Sammy Stadium, St Lucia.
