Right before the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh suffered a 1-2 series loss to the United States of America. They would be looking to prove everybody wrong with some lovely performances against Sri Lanka, South Africa, Nepal, and the Netherlands. Bangladesh will begin their journey against Sri Lanka in a mouth-watering clash to be played on 7th June at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas.

They need a good start against rivalries and hope to create pressure on the opponents. Bangladesh never performed well in T20 World Cup history. They suffered losses to India, Pakistan, and South Africa during the 2022 edition played in Australia. Bangladesh featured in all the editions of T20 World Cups since 2007.

Their record has been poor with 38 matches being played with only 9 wins, 28 losses and 1 no-result. Bangladesh’s best performance was when they reached the Super 8 stage in the 2007 edition of the World Cup played in South Africa.

Strengths

Bangladesh has a quality batting order comprising Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hasan Shanto, Shakib AL Hasan, and Mahmudullah who can play impressive knocks and take the game away from the opponents.

Najmul Hasan Shanto was the leading run scorer for Bangladesh in T20 World Cup 2022. He made 180 runs from 5 matches (5 innings) including the best score of 71. During the 5 matches Bangladesh played, he smashed 2 half-centuries. Despite his efforts, Bangladesh could not qualify for the semi-finals.

Bangla Tigers have an experienced bowling lineup consisting of Shoriful Islam, Mustizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzid Hasan Shakib, and Shakib AL Hasan who can take wickets and stem the flow of runs in the death overs.

Taskin Ahmed had a decent outing in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He took 8 wickets from 5 matches (5 innings) at an economy of 7.27 runs per over including best figures of 4 for 25.

Bangladesh struggles with their bowling and batting in tandem. They struggle to adapt as their batting looks in some trouble against quality bowling which could haunt them qualifying for the Super 8 stage.

Their youngsters including Jaker Ali, Tanvir Islam, and a few others would be playing their first World Cup needs to come up with goods if given a chance to play XI.

Opportunities

Shakib AL Hasan and Mahmudullah might be playing their last T20 World Cup for Bangladesh. They would be eager to play good cricket and help them to qualify for the Super 8 stage.

It is a chance for Bangladesh players to step up with their performances and ensure that they can defeat the likes of South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

Threats

The major threat for the Bangladesh team is the inconsistency with their performance. They must ensure they play good cricket to avoid slip-ups against the Netherlands and Nepal.

Najmul Hasan Shanto’s captaincy form and captaincy is a cause of concern going into the tournament. They must ensure that their star players perform to their fullest.
