The Indian Cricket Team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been announced to be played in the USA and West Indies. KL Rahul has not been a part of the mega event due to various reasons.
KL Rahul was a part of the team that reached the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 played in Australia. He is not be a part of the 2024 edition due to a lack of performances during the ongoing Indian Premier League.

KL Rahul’s performance in the ongoing IPL has not been great enough to catch the eyes of the selectors.
Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have shown tremendous form in their respective franchises and finished games with their power-hitting.
There are two wicketkeepers already with Pant and Samson which leaves KL Rahul out of the team.
KL Rahul’s inability to put pressure on the bowlers in the first six overs makes him suspect.

- Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson has led from the front in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Coming at number 3, Samson played with intent putting pressure on the bowlers with the explosive nature of batting. He has made 385 runs from 9 matches (9 innings) so far including 3 half-centuries with a strike rate of 161.09.
For his consistent performances, Samson has been awarded the Indian cap for the prestigious T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the USA and West Indies. He has done well for Rajasthan Royals as a wicketkeeper and could give chances against the USA and Canada.
- Rishabh Pant
After recovering from a horrifying accident, Rishabh Pant has done well as a batter and as a wicketkeeper. During the ongoing IPL season for DC, Pant scored 388 runs from 11 matches (11 innings) with 3 half-centuries to his name at a strike rate of 158.57.
He has performed brilliantly as a wicketkeeper with 11 catches and 3 stumpings to his name so far. Despite Delhi Capitals not performing well, Pant has shown tremendous success with both bat and wicketkeeper.
- KL Rahul
KL Rahul made some good progress for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. He scored so far 378 runs from 9 matches (9 innings) with 3 half-centuries to his name including the best score of 82 at a strike rate of 144.27.
Pant and Samson are the two ideal choices for the Indian team. It will be interesting to see who plays in first match against Ireland on 5th June 2024.
