The International Cricket Council named India’s star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh as the brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the West Indies and the United States of America.
Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt have been appointed as the brand ambassadors for the mega event. It will be a huge event as a total of 20 teams will take part in the prestigious tournament. The 20 teams would be divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each and the top two teams would qualify for the Super Eight stage.
With just 36 days remaining before the start of the mega event, Singh would attend a range of different promotional activities in the USA in the lead-up especially for the marquee clash between India and Pakistan to be played in New York on June 9th.
“Some of my fondest cricketing memories have come from playing at the T20 World Cup, including hitting six sixes in an over, so it’s very exciting to be part of this edition, which is set to be the biggest one yet. India’s clash against Pakistan in New York is going to be one of the biggest sporting fixtures in the world this year, so it’s a privilege to be a part of and to witness the best players in the world playing in a new stadium.”
ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Details
The T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in West Indies and USA across 9 venues including 3 of the USA and 6 of the West Indies. USA will face Canada in the opening match of the tournament to be played in Texas on June 1st. Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago. Florida, New York, and Texas would host matches in the USA.
It promises to be an exciting tournament with the likes of Nepal, Uganda, Oman, and Scotland taking part in the prestigious event. The Netherlands progressed through this event by finishing in the top 8 during the 2022 World Cup played in Australia.
India has been clubbed with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the United States of America in Group A.
