The whole world has come together to fight the pandemic coronavirus which has taken lives of more than 14000 people across the globe. There is a complete lockdown in many places with all global events called including many sporting contests.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) until April 15 which was scheduled to commence from March 29. However, considering the current scenarios the future of the tournament also looks gloomy. The three-match ODI series between South Africa and India was also called off in the wake of COVID-19.

Furthermore, the England tour of Sri Lanka was also cancelled and the Trans-Tasmanian One-day internationals were taking place in close doors. While initially, Pakistan Cricket Board decided to continue with the Pakistan Super League but later had to call off to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
And the deadly virus is now set to affect another global event in the form of ICC World Test Championship. The tournament which kicked off after the ICC World Cup 2019 was scheduled run until June 2021 with the historic Lords set to the grand finale. But the pandemic hat put the future of the tournament in jeopardy.

“At present, the ICC is considering the options available to us regarding the World Test Championship and no decisions have been taken,” an ICC spokesperson said according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
In addition, there are doubts over the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 which is slated to follow later this year in Australia. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is likely to organise a conference call on March 29 to decide on the future of the competition.
