The second Ashes Test, which begins on June 28 at Lord’s, has been targeted by seasoned Indian seamer James Anderson as one where Rehan Ahmed could shine.
The 40-year-old believes the young player has a positive disposition and the abilities necessary to succeed in a high-stress situation.
Leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed made his debut against Pakistan in Karachi last December and took a wicket.
He was able to get in as a cover for Moeen Ali. The 18-year-old briefly displayed some of his bat power as well.

The young prodigy, according to Anderson, appears to pick things up quickly and has confidence that, if chosen by Lord’s, his abilities will shine. He said, as cited by The Daily Mail:
“He is prepared if anyone is at that age. As He has performed admirably in all facets of cricket since joining the team.”
“He is a quick learner, has the talent to compete at this level, and the temperament to succeed.”
“Rehan has a very sound head on his shoulders and has performed admirably in all facets of the game when he has played. I’m sure he’d do a fantastic job if he actually received the ball.”
In his first Test match since September 2021, Moeen not only lost his first three victims but also 204 runs from his 47 overs. But in the process, the veteran hurt his finger.

James Anderson said England showed enough promise about how well they can play despite losing by two wickets at Edgbaston and promised to play more aggressively at Lord’s.
The 180-Test veteran added, as reported by Perth Now:
“We’ll be more upbeat, aggressive, and entertaining. In order for people to feel as content as they did at Edgbaston every day.”
“We want to make sure they return home. I don’t think we’ll try anything different just because we’re down 1-0.”
“If we continue to play as we did last week and work out a few kinks, we should be able to win the remaining four games. The same will be followed by us.”
