Suryakumar Yadav stressed the value of adjusting to various circumstances and scenarios at a media engagement here on Tuesday to successfully support the demands of the team. Suryakumar admitted that batting on slow wickets presents difficulties and that he and his batting partner must plan.

In the current ICC tournament, Suryakumar Yadav found it difficult to score in Team India’s opening two games. In his opening two innings against Pakistan and Ireland in New York, he only managed nine runs.

Nevertheless, against the United States of America, the right-handed batter amassed an undefeated 50 runs off 49 balls.

The team captained by Rohit Sharma won three games before the last group stage was called off because of a flooded outfield. In the Super 8 phases, the Men in Blue are grouped with Bangladesh, Australia, and Afghanistan. On June 20, they will begin their Super 8 campaign in Barbados against Afghanistan.

Suraykumar Yadav, the world’s leading T20I batter according to ICC rankings, made this remarkable observation during a recent interview. A player as good as Suryakumar Yadav, who continues to bat brilliantly through the middle overs, decides that he cannot avoid reacting instantly, even if the situation changes.

“If you have been number one for two years, you should be able to bat in different conditions and change the game as per the needs of the team. That displays good batsmanship and that is what I try,” said Suryakumar.

“It’s difficult to generate that force when there’s no pace on the wicket and when someone has read your game nicely. So, at that time, you have to be very smart about how you want to extend your innings,” Suraykumar Yadav said.

“You have to change according to the situation, what the team demands at that moment, and talk to your partner who is inside, calm your nerves down, and then take the innings ahead,” Suraykumar Yadav added.

From 60 innings, the middle-order batsman has scored 2,200 runs at an average of 44.90 runs per inning with a phenomenal strike rate of 168.06. Suryakumar Yadav, out of his T20I career, has scored 4 centuries; besides making eighteen scores of fifty plus, a score of 117 runs is his highest ever.
