“I’m Always Gonna Be Here” – Virat Kohli Promises To Stick With RCB In The IPL, Rejecting Other Team Offers

Virat Kohli, the star player of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has committed to remaining with the franchise and aims to break their IPL title drought this year. He also emphasized the loyal fans’ deservingness to witness their team clinch the elusive title.

Despite reaching the final three times, RCB has been unable to secure the trophy since their defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. At the RCB Unbox event on Tuesday, Kohli expressed his newfound dream of securing the IPL trophy. He stated:

“As everyone knows, I’m always gonna be here, try to be part of the group that wins it (IPL) for the first time… I will try my absolute best for the fans, for the franchise… it’s kind of a dream of mine as well over so many years, to know what it feels like to win the IPL.”

In IPL 2023, the 35-year-old batsman ranked fourth in terms of highest runs scored, accumulating 639 runs in 14 matches with an average of 53.25 and a respectable strike rate of 139.25, featuring two centuries. Despite his performance, the Royal Challengers fell short of making it to the playoffs.

“I’m quite pleased and enthusiastic to return”- Virat Kohli

In a previous discussion with RCB.tv, the ex-captain mentioned feeling rejuvenated after a few months of routine. The experienced player also remarked:

“It’s really good to be back, firstly playing cricket and just starting off the IPL. It’s always exciting to come back to Bangalore for the start of the IPL season.”

“So, similar emotions, similar feelings and I haven’t been off the media radar. I have been into the normalcy, you can say, for two months. So, yeah, I am pretty happy and excited to be back and I hope all the fans are excited and happy as well.”

The 35-year-old opted out of the entire five-Test home series against England due to the expectancy of his second child with partner Anushka Sharma. Following a two-month break, fans can anticipate Kohli delivering significant runs.
