Imam-Ul-Haq has finally seemed to be the solution for the opening issues faced by Pakistan over a long period of time. After making his ODI debut in 2017, he has now earned caps in all three formats. His opening partnerships with Fakhar Zaman have been working out well for the team but the 23-year-old batsman seems to have stuck in a very sensitive issue right now.
The controversy
The latest tweets from one of the users reveal the private chats that Imam engaged in Whatsapp over the last few months. He was reportedly texting in a manner that certainly disturbed the privacy of the opposite gender. The screenshot history suggests that he has been in touch with four girls till now. However, the chats with the fourth girl aren”t available yet. She managed to get in contact with one of the victims terming Imam as a “cheater”.
Sources further suggest that Imam indulged in such activities even during the World Cup campaign. Pakistan failed to reach the semifinals of the tournament due to the early losses encountered. Imam scored 305 runs in 8 games including a fine century in their last game against Bangladesh.
All eyes on how the board would react for these activities of Imam if he is proved guilty. It is worth noting that he might be eligible for a suspension if he ends up on the receiving side.
Imam has been a consistent performer for the side in the ODI”s. According to the latest ICC rankings, he occupies 11th spot. This might turn out to be one another headaches for the Pakistan Cricket Board, who just received a severe blow after the resignation of Inzamam-Ul-Haq, their chief selector.
Further developments on this news are still awaited.
