The camaraderie between the two is evident not just on the international stage but also in the IPL, where they represent the KKR franchise. Ahead of the 2024 IPL auction, both Gurbaz and Singh were retained by the Kolkata team, indicating the faith the management has in their abilities.

However, on the cricketing front, Gurbaz faced a setback in the first T20I against India, where despite initiating well, he managed to score only 23 runs off 28 deliveries. His innings included a maximum and two boundaries. Contrarily, Singh showcased resilience, remaining unbeaten with a brisk 16 off just nine balls, decorated with two boundaries.

This performance contributed to India’s victory by six wickets, granting them a 1-0 advantage in the ongoing three-match T20I series. Furthermore, Singh has been fortunate to receive valuable guidance from the legendary former Indian captain, MS Dhoni. Reflecting on his recent contributions to India’s triumphs, Singh expressed gratitude for Dhoni’s advice.

Given Dhoni’s reputation as one of the game’s premier finishers, Singh is eager to assimilate and apply the invaluable insights he garners from such a seasoned campaigner.

Rinku Singh said: “I have got a habit of batting at six and finishing games. I’m feeling very happy with this job. Enjoyed the cold conditions, it was tough while fielding though. I just try to talk to myself, batting at six, I don’t have the chance to face too many balls or score too many runs, that’s the thing I keep telling myself.”

“I’ve spoken with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni). He just told me to react according to the ball, keep your calm and I just do the same thing. I don’t think a lot while batting, just react to the ball.”

With many pundits earmarking Singh as India’s potential future finisher, his determination to imbibe lessons from stalwarts like Dhoni could be pivotal in shaping his cricketing journey.
