Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is returning to Team India’s ODI setup for the three-match series against Australia at home. India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad for the series which kicks off on Friday, September 22 at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. KL Rahul will be leading the squad for the first two ODI matches.

Ravichandran Ashwin marks his return to the Indian ODI team after 14 months. He last played an ODI for India in July 2022 when they toured South Africa. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma have been included in the team for the first two matches. Skipper Rohit Sharma and the likes of Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya have been rested for the first two ODIs. They will be back for the final match at Rajkot.

Axar Patel misses out on the first two ODI matches

Indian all-rounder Axar Patel has missed out on the first two ODI matches due to an injury. He sustained a strain in his left quadriceps during the recently concluded Asia Cup. He has been included in the final ODI, subject to attaining full fitness. Washington Sundar, who replaced Axar in the Asia Cup final, has been retained for the series.
