Team India secured a resounding win in the second T20I against Australia on Sunday, November 26 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. They defeated the visitors by 44 runs, owing to a great all-round performance. They are two up in the five-match T20I series. During the game, Indian batters achieved a unique feat.

Batting first, Indian batters took the attack to the opposition. They started well with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad putting on a 77-run stand. Jaiswal slammed a blazing fifty, with nine boundaries and two sixes. Following his dismissal, Ishan Kishan took centre stage, as he smashed three boundaries and four sixes in the innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad also scored 58 runs from 43 deliveries, playing the anchor role. Rinku Singh stole the show at the end with a 9-ball 31-run knock.

On the back of a brilliant batting performance, India managed 235 runs. India’s top three, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan set the platform for a huge total. The innings witnessed the first instance of the top three Indian batters scoring 50-plus runs. It was only the fifth time in the history of the shortest format that a team achieved this feat.

Was trying to be fearless: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been impressive in the ongoing T20I series against Australia. He has been aggressive in his approach, providing India great starts. In the second T20I, he slammed 53 runs from just 25 deliveries, with nine boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 212. Jaiswal won the Player of the Match award for his valuable knock. Speaking at the post-match presentation, the Indian opener said,

“It was really special for me. I was trying to play all my shots. Was trying to be fearless. I was sure of my decisions. Have been told by Surya bhai and VVS sir to go and play freely. I have been asked to express myself. For me, what I think I can develop and not think about anything else.”
