IND vs BAN: [WATCH]- Rishabh Pant Gets Out To A Reverse-Sweep In The 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 Match

Team India‘s wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant experienced the reverse sweep during the current 2024 T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Saturday, June 22. The left-handed batsman attempted to press on against Rishad Hossain but was caught by a fielder, halting his promising innings at 36 runs.

Rishabh Pant thrived in his new role at No. 3, entering the crease during the powerplay after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal in the fourth over. Initially playing a supporting role to Kohli, Pant hit his first boundary after facing 10 deliveries. He then accelerated, scoring several boundaries, first off Mustafizur Rahman and then against Rishad Hossain.

Capitalizing on his advantage against the leg-spinner, Pant struck a six and a four in the first part of the 12th over. However, aiming for a third consecutive boundary, he attempted a reverse sweep that made decent contact but was caught by Tanzim Sakib at short third man.

Despite Pant’s dismissal, Team India staged a strong recovery. They were 108-4 in the 12th over when Pandya and Dube contributed useful cameos to push the team to a competitive total. Pant remains India’s top scorer in the current World Cup, and his adaptation to the new role has significantly influenced their unbeaten streak.

Rishabh Pant was dismissed playing the reverse sweep in the match against Afghanistan too

The wicket-keeper has consistently made promising beginnings and set a platform but has faced challenges in converting them into substantial scores.

In the recent Super 8 stage match against Afghanistan, he attempted to challenge Rashid Khan with a reverse sweep. However, he missed the full delivery and was clearly out LBW after scoring 20 runs from 11 balls.
