IND vs ENG 1st Test: Young Gun Sai Sudharsan Breaks into India’s Playing XI
Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan has been given his first Test cap and is ready to make his India debut in the 1st Test against England at Leeds. The opening batsman of Tamil Nadu was gifted with the test cap no. 317 on the eve of the toss. With the hard work that Sudharsan has put in with the bat through the years, he has at last been able to make a step into the playing XI of the Indian team. According to ESPNCricinfo, Sudharsan will play at number 3, and the batting order will be reshuffled.

The fact that Sai Sudharsan is one of the players depicts his dedication and effort. The 21-year-old left-hander made his first-class debut in 2022 and has since scored 1957 runs in 29 games, averaging 39.93. He has recorded seven centuries and five fifties as an indication of his strength in the domestic tournaments played in different formats.

Sai Sudharsan Enters Elite List with Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly

The Indian team has made a few changes in the playing XI, like Karun Nair being back on the scene after 7 years. He would most likely be number 7 in the batting order. The next batting player to feature in the playing XI is Shardul Thakur, whereas Prasidh Krishna will be the third pacer in the playing XI with Siraj and Bumrah. Sudharsan will be getting his cap handed to him by Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been playing at the No. 3 position for more than 10 years.

This gave Sai Sudharsan more flight in his meteoric career as he debuted in the Indian test against England at the opening game of the series in Headingley, Leeds. He becomes one of the few Indian legends to receive their first Test caps on the same day- Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli. The batting order has been shuffled as Shubman Gill was shifted to No. 4 alongside Rishabh Pant, who took his place at No. 5 while giving a chance to Sudharsan.

India (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant(w), Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
