Team India registered a thrilling 5-wicket win in the fourth test match against England played at JSCA Stadium, Ranchi, ending on day 4. Rohit Sharma and Co were under pressure on the first two days as they looked down and out before Dhruv Jurel and others showed a fight to reduce the lead to 46 runs.

Indian spinners rattled the England batters to bowl out them cheaply for 145. Chasing 192, Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal provided a decent start. Still, they lost wickets quickly before Jurel and Gill’s partnership for the 6th wicket ensured that India won the match and took an unassailable lead of 3-1 with one match to spare.

Some brilliant performances helped the Indian team win the Ranchi test. Akash Deep Singh made his Test debut and bowled brilliantly on the first morning, picking 3 wickets.

  1. Dhruv Jurel

The young wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel played a key role in helping Team India register a superb win. In the first innings, India looked in trouble at 161 for 5. Jurel looked solid enough with positive intent as he lost wickets of Sarfaraz Khan and R Ashwin leaving India in big trouble. Jurel and Kuldeep stitched a superb partnership that rescued India.

Jurel showed his fighting spirit on the 3rd day completing his maiden Test fifty. He made the batting look easy, adding more valuable runs hitting big shots against Shoaib Bashir. His innings ended with a lovely delivery to be dismissed for 90 helping India to reduce the lead to just 46.

Chasing down 192 runs, India looked in some trouble with 120 for 5 after the lunch break. Jurel kept the strike rotating, taking singles and not allowing pressure. His innings looked composed making sure that India chased down the target without any hiccups. Jurel remained not out on 39 and shared 72 runs unbeaten for the 6th wicket helping India win the match by 5 wickets. For his match-winning effort, Dhruv Jurel was named the player of the match award.

  1. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav made a major contribution to India. In the first innings, Yadav looked solid enough with solid defense along with Dhurv Jurel. He ensured that India ended recovered to end day 2 on 219 for 7.

The third day also saw Kuldeep Yadav with the solid defense before being dismissed right at the stroke of the first drinks break. He scored 28 runs and added valuable runs with Jurel which put England under some pressure.

He was not utilized by Rohit Sharma in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav produced a magical spell in the second innings. The chainmen spinner delivered a beauty to dismiss Zak Crawley before getting rid of Ben Stokes leaving England in some trouble.  After the tea break, he dismissed Tom Hartley with a good catch by Sarfaraz Khan and Ollie Robinson in the same over. He ended with figures of 4 for 22 in 15 overs that brought India back into the game.

  1. Yashasvi Jaiswal

The stylish left-handed Yashasvi Jaiswal looked impressive in both innings of the Ranchi Test. He batted with confidence in the first innings as Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply. Jaiswal looked in great touch playing James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, Hartley, and Shoaib Bashir decently. He was eventually dismissed for a well-made 73 as India lost the fifth wicket at 161 for 5.

Chasing 192 runs in the second innings, Jaiswal showed intent along with Rohit Sharma adding 40 runs at the end of day 3. The stylish left-handed batter scored easily before being caught by James Anderson for 37. Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal added 84 runs for the opening wicket laying the foundation for a win.
