The Indian Cricket Team will likely see the debut of Akash Deep Singh for the upcoming fourth Test match that will take place at JSCA Stadium, Ranchi from 23rd February onwards. Jasprit Bumrah has been given a rest for the fourth test due to workload management policy. Akash Deep Singh was included in the squad from 3rd test onwards.

Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar were the two options to partner Mohammed Siraj for the fourth test match. India has taken a 2-1 lead in the 5-match Test series after dominating 434 runs victory at Rajkot. Mukesh Kumar was included in playing for the 2nd test match at Vizag but picked only 1 wicket in the entire match.

The Indian team management will go with Akash Deep in the playing XI for the fourth test match at Ranchi. Bengal pace bowler bowled with great control picking up 10 wickets from the two four-day games against England Lions at Ahmedabad. He has been a consistent performer for Bengal in domestic cricket.

In a press release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said that Bumrah had been released for the fourth Test. “The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times,” Shah stated in the release.

Akash Deep Singh will look to perform well if he gets a chance in the playing XI for the fourth test match at Ranchi. Bumrah has shown class picking up important England wickets and not allowing the attacking batters to score runs easily.

Akash Deep Singh’s performance in First Class Cricket

Akash Deep Singh has been a consistent performer for Bengal in first-class cricket. He made his debut against Andhra Pradesh on 25th December 2019. Since his debut, the pace bowler took a total of 104 wickets from 30 matches (49 innings) at an economy of 3.03 runs per over including best figures of 6 for 60 in an innings.

He will look to make an impact in his debut test match and hope to provide support for Mohammed Siraj at Ranchi helping Team India win the series.
