England Cricket Team named their playing XI for the 2nd Test match against India to be played in Vizag from 2nd February 2024. Ben Stokes and Co registered a remarkable turnaround 28-run victory at Hyderabad to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The batting group remains the same as Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett would open the innings. Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes would comprise the middle order. Ben Foakes did a superb job as a wicketkeeper and impressed in the 2nd innings.
There will be a change in the bowling lineup. Shoaib Bashir would make his debut replacing Jack Leach. The debutant Tom Hartley, and Rehan Ahmed would be genuine spin bowling options. The veteran James Anderson would make a comeback into the playing XI replacing Mark Wood.
It promises to be an exciting encounter as the England team would look to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Tom Hartley was the pick of bowlers with 7 for 62 in the 2nd innings and helped England register 28 run victory to help England take a 1-0 lead.
Ollie Pope was the hero who turned the fortune of the match with a sensational 196 with reverse sweeps and sweeps that put pressure on Indian bowlers. He along with Foakes, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Hartley added valuable runs that set India a challenging target of 231.
James Anderson would be a major threat for Indian batters with conditions likely to favour the batters initially. It promises to be another exciting encounter as Stokes and Co would look for another impressive performance.
Shoaib Bashir will be making his Test debut and will be nervous. Tom Hartley will be high on confidence after a match-winning effort in 2nd innings. Rehan Ahmed struggled badly and would look to come back strongly. Joe Root would also play a key role in the bowling department and make sure that he keeps pressure on the Indian batters.
