Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a well-compliant century in the 2nd inning of the 3rd Test match played at Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot on 17th February 2024. It was a great knock by the youngster putting India in the driver’s seat.
After bundling out England 319 runs in the first innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal looked cautious in the initial stages as Rohit Sharma looked impressive. India went into the tea break at 44 for 1. Jaiswal played the England spinners brilliantly and kept the scoreboard ticking with a flurry of boundaries.
Jaiswal took charge putting the England bowlers under pressure with his aggressive approach against James Anderson smashing him for 2 fours and 1 six in an over. He completed fifty off 80 deliveries. After reaching his century, Jaiswal made the batting look easy by taking on England’s spinners making life tough for
the opponents.
It was a great knock that put the England team under immense pressure by completing his century off 122 deliveries. He struggled with cramps on his back before deciding to retire hurt. Shubman Gill also looked impressive putting England bowlers under pressure taking singles and hitting boundaries. Jaiswal remained not out on 104 off 133 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes.
Rajat Patidar was dismissed without opening his account after Jaiswal retired. Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav ensured that India ended the third day in a dominating position at 190 for 2 with a massive lead of 318 runs.
Jaiswal made the batting look easy on a good batting pitch that had some assistance for the pace bowlers and spinners. It was his 2nd century of this series as Jaiswal made 209 runs in the first innings of the 2nd Test match at Vizag. He made a quickfire 80 in the first innings of first innings of the 1st test at Hyderabad leading India to post a big total.
