New Zealand announce Test squad for series against Aus

New Zealand named 14 14-member squad for the two-match Test series against Australia to be played from 29th February onwards. It promises to be an exciting encounter as Kiwis will be playing against Aussies in New Zealand after a gap of 8 years.

Kiwis would be high on confidence as they defeated the second-string South African side by 2-0.  The major change will be Scott Kuggelin being included in the squad. William O Rourke retained his place after his man-of-the-match performance during the second Test match against South Africa at Seddon Park, Hamilton his debut Test match.

Daryl Mitchell who missed the second Test against South Africa due to an injury would be returning to the squad. Tom Latham, and Devon Conway would open the innings. Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, and Tom Blundell would comprise the middle-order batters.

Tim Southee would lead the side. Southee, Wagner, Matt Henry, Will O Rourke, and Scott Kugglein will comprise pace bowling options. Mitchell Santer, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra would consist of spinners. Ravindra and Phillps will do the part time while Santer will do the job very well as a genuine spinner.

The first Test match will be played from 29th February at Basin Reserve, Wellington while the second encounter will take at Hagley Oval, Christchurch from 8th March onwards. New Zealand would be high on confidence as they are currently top of the ICC 2023-25 Points table of WTC with 75 percent. Southee and Co would be looking for a great performance against the Australian side.

New Zealand suffered a 0-2 whitewash when Australia played in New Zealand in 2016. It promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams would be looking for a great series. Kane Williamson and Southee would be playing their 100th Test match during the 2nd Test match.
