Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be eyeing a huge milestone in the upcoming test match against England. He has played a crucial role for India in the ongoing series. The third Test of the five-match series is set to kick off on Thursday, February 15 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot.

Ravichandran Ashwin has records to his name in International cricket. He will be eyeing to achieve another milestone in the Rajkot Test. He needs five wickets to go past Anil Kumble in the list of most wickets by an Indian bowler at home. Kumble tops the list with 350 wickets in Test cricket in 63 matches. Ashwin follows him with 346 wickets in 57 matches. Harbhajan Singh is third on the list with 265 wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin nears 500 Test wickets

India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is just one wicket away from completing 500 wickets in Test cricket for India. He will join an elite list of bowlers and become the ninth bowler in world cricket to achieve this feat and the second Indian. Former India spinner Anil Kumble also features in the list with 619 Test wickets. Overall, Ashwin has taken 499 wickets in Test cricket so far, at an average of 23.92 . He has taken 34 five-wicket hauls and eight ten-wicket hauls in his career. Muthiah Muralidaran tops the list with 800 wickets in Test cricket for Sri Lanka, including 67 five-wicket hauls and 22 ten-wicket hauls.

Talking about Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance in the ongoing five-match series against England, the veteran spinner has been in good form. He has taken nine wickets in two matches at an average of 36.33. The series is levelled after the first two test matches. England won the first Test match at Hyderabad by 26\8 runs. They defended 230 runs in the match, achieving a historic win. However, India has made a good comeback winning the second test match. They defeated England by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam.
