The kits of the entire squad were flown directly from Vizag to Rajkot while Iyer’s kit was sent back home to Mumbai.

The series is equal at 1-1 with India winning the 2nd test match by 106 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of bowlers grabbing 9 wickets and was awarded the player of the match for his brilliance. “Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defence,” a source told The Indian Express. “Post surgery, he is facing this issue for the first time so he has been advised to rest for a few weeks. He will head to NCA later.”

Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul who missed the second test against England at Vizag due to injuries are likely to make a comeback for the 3rd Test at Rajkot starting from 15th February onwards.

The India and England 5-match Test series is level at 1-1. The selectors delayed the announcement as they wanted to know Kohli’s availability.
