Shubman Gill is now the fastest batsman to score 2500 runs in ODIs. This remarkable feat came when he played his 50th ODI for India against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The journey of Gill as an ODI player has been almost like that from a fairy tale. Debuting for the national side on January 31, 2019, against New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton, this man has done nothing but score runs since then by every conceivable way. This record is just another feather in his cap, a testament to all his hard work, commitment, and innate, unbridled talent.

As Gill would travel around the world in blue, representing India, cricket enthusiasts might expect this emerging batting gem to pull off many more stunning innings. Certainly, the thrill of his achievement reverberates throughout the cricketing world.

Shubman Gill has become the fastest batter to score 2500 runs in ODIs, breaking Hashim Amla‘s record. Amla scored 2500 runs in 53 innings, while Gill took only 50 innings to achieve the milestone. Gill got to 2500 runs by scoring 25 runs, with a boundary off a delivery by Gus Atkinson in the 10th over.

Gill has been in excellent form throughout the India-England series. He made a memorable start in the first ODI at Nagpur on February 6, scoring 87 off 96 balls before guiding his breathtaking and scintillating form into the second ODI at Cuttack on February 9, with an explosive 60 off just 51 balls.

Gill’s new achievement is just a flash of his brilliance for maintaining form and being able to put the opposition bowling under pressure, which, along with other factors, has proven influential to India’s success in the series.
