In the clash between India and England at Ranchi for the fourth Test Match, newcomer Akash Deep showcased his talent with an exceptional delivery to Zak Crawley. However, the thrill quickly turned to disappointment when the umpire ruled it a “No Ball.”

This incident occurred on the fifth delivery of the fourth over, as Deep bowled a well-pitched ball outside off stump, which swung back sharply, beating Crawley’s defence and sending the off stump flying.

Despite the heartbreak of having his first Test wicket denied due to a marginal no-ball, the 27-year-old pacer remained resilient. He quickly regained his composure and went on to make a significant impact by claiming two key wickets in the same over of his debut Test match. This remarkable feat took place during the 10th over of the first session.

In the second delivery of that over, Deep, adopting a round-the-wicket angle, bowled another well-directed ball outside off stump. The English batsman attempted to defend, but only managed to edge the ball, leading to a safe catch by Dhruv Jurel. It was a moment of sheer delight for Deep as he celebrated his maiden Test wicket.

The excitement continued as Deep struck again in the same over, dismissing Ollie Pope. A review confirmed that the ball had made contact with Pope’s pads before hitting the wickets. The bowler and slip cordon’s appeal proved successful, prompting umpire Tucker to overturn his decision and raise the finger in favour of the dismissal.

Despite the initial setback of the no-ball ruling, Akash Deep’s debut performance was nothing short of impressive. His ability to bounce back from adversity and claim crucial wickets demonstrates his talent and potential as a fast bowler. As the match progressed, Deep’s contributions proved invaluable to the Indian team’s success in the Test match against England at Ranchi.
