IND vs ENG: [WATCH] James Anderson Playfully Prompts Ravindra Jadeja To Mark His Century

Experienced English bowler James Anderson playfully teased Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as he reached his century during the final session of Day 1 in the Rajkot Test. Jadeja achieved his hundred with a single off Anderson behind square leg.

Despite a subdued version of his usual sword celebration, it was understandable given his previous misjudgment on 99, resulting in debutant Sarfaraz Khan being run out in the same over.

Upon receiving his cap from the umpire, James Anderson engaged in a brief conversation with Ravindra Jadeja, playfully advising him to acknowledge the crowd by waving his bat and indulging in a more elaborate celebration for his century.

Sarfaraz, making his debut, displayed promise with his 62, but his run-out marked an underwhelming conclusion to India’s day. However, Jadeja finished the day unbeaten at 110*, delivering another innings of significant value.

Ravindra Jadeja failed to capitalize on the positive performance from Day 1

Commencing Day 2 at 326-5, India had high hopes for Ravindra Jadeja to build on his overnight performance. Contrary to expectations, Jadeja maintained a subdued demeanor and could only contribute an additional two runs to his score. Unfortunately, he faced a soft dismissal, chipping the ball back to Joe Root.

The touring team had an excellent start by dismissing both Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Subsequently, debutant Dhruv Jurel (10) and Ravichandran Ashwin (12) joined forces, building a partnership and contributing 21 runs for the eighth wicket. This collaboration aims to support India’s total, putting pressure on the visiting team.

Having just two fast bowlers remaining in the batting order for India, it becomes crucial for the ongoing partnership to succeed. England would find themselves in a more favorable position if they can restrict the hosts from reaching a total beyond the 400-run mark.
