The long-anticipated first Test between India and England commenced at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on January 25. Despite the contentious moment, the third umpire, Marais Erasmus, found no grounds to overturn the decision, and Root continued his innings. However, in the second session, Root was eventually dismissed for 29 (60) as he got caught at short fine leg while attempting a sweep. During this innings, Root not only added runs to his tally but also secured his position as the leading run-scorer in India vs.

England Tests, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar with 2555 runs from 46 innings at an impressive average of 62.31. As the game unfolded, England’s innings concluded at 246, with skipper Ben Stokes top-scoring at 70 (88). India’s bowling stalwarts, Ravichandran Ashwin (3/68) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/88), emerged as the standout performers.
