Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will be eyeing a historic feat in the upcoming fifth Test against England that kicks off on Thursday, March 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. India has sealed the five-match series 3-1, defeating England in the fourth test by five wickets.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the top performer for India with the bat in the ongoing series. He is the leading run-scorer with 655 runs at an average of 75.89, with two centuries and two fifties. This also includes a double century in Rajkot. Ahead of the Dharamshala test, the youngster will be eyeing to break Sunil Gavaskar’s record.
Sunil Gavaskar is at the top of the list of Most Runs scored in a Test series by an Indian batter. He slammed 774 runs in four tests against the West Indies in 1970. He also ranks at the top of the Most runs scored in a Test series in India, scoring 732 runs against the West Indies in 1978-79. Jaiswal will have the chance to go past both these records.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan termed Yashasvi Jaiswal a “very special cricketer.” He expressed that the youngster has a bright future, and will go a long way. Jaiswal has impressed everyone in his short International career so far. He has scored 971 runs at an average of 69.36, including three centuries and two double centuries.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a very special cricketer, he has a very bright future and he will make it big”, said Irfan Pathan to PTI on the sidelines of the New Delhi Marathon.
The left-handed batter has also made great strides in the latest ICC Test Rankings for batters. He has jumped three spots and is now twelve ahead of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Jaiswal has 727 points, while Rohit who dropped one spot has 720 points.
